University: Would I recommend it?

Image
Many students are at the stage I was two years ago. Deciding whether they want to go to university or if they want to go straight into a job or even an apprenticeship.  I have always wanted to go to university, its been a dream of mine since being a child and I'm finally here and already in my second year. Time goes so quickly. So the big question is... is university really worth it? Personally to me the answer is a big yes.  Everyone has different experiences at university whether your experience is about making friends or going on a night out; they are great experiences but also university itself is such an amazing experience.  When deciding on the university I wanted to go to, I made sure I chose one where I felt at home. This was a big factor in my decision making because I'm so close to my family and I've only ever lived with my mum and dad so to go from living with them to moving away I knew it would affect me and I needed all the home comfo...

University Room Tour: Year Two:

Image
I'm back! Happy Thursday, I hope you're all having a lovely week.  This week for me has been the worst week ever and I'm so glad its almost the weekend because I need a rest from uni and I need to have some fun.  As you can tell by the title, today's blog post is all about my university flat and what it looks like! Last year I lived in an accommodation that I liked but definitely did not love. It was small, so so so unmodernised and I had to share a bathroom and I will never ever put myself through that again haha. This year I'm living in the Tramshed which is privately rented to students of UCLan and its a dream. It feels like home when I'm away from my family and that is exactly what I needed. So first of all my desk area. I love this area because it is where I spend most of my time working and getting things done on my to do list. The photo wall is my favourite part of my desk area because if I'm feeling sad and homesick I just l...

Tim Burton's remake of Disney's Dumbo:

Image
(Image created by Al_HikesAZ, from Flickr) I went to see Dumbo in the cinema on Tuesday and I have to say that it is now possibly my new favourite Disney film. It takes you on such a journey from start to end! Before writing my review I wanted to see what others thought of the movie and I was shocked to see that many in fact didn't like Burton's remake of the 1941 original Disney classic. Well my opinion is entirely different. When I first heard that Tim Burton was creating Dumbo I was a little shocked as on screen his film making is normally much more spooky. With creations like Edward Scissorhands and Beetlejuice, I didn't know whether his take on dumbo would be effective. However, his style of production is just right for Dumbo. Dumbo is a story of a loving baby oddity elephant, who like other of Burton's characters, is welcomed, humiliated and oppressed by the society around him. How to deal with: Exam Stress

Image
Hey guys and gals, I hope you're all doing well. Todays blog post is a little topic all about exam stress. Exam season is approaching rather quickly and I thought I'd share some tips on how to stay chilled out and relaxed whilst still being prepared to smash your exams. I often struggle in exam situations, I always get very nervous and my heart feels like its poking out my chest, but I've had a think about it and really my nerves are only there because I want to do well and not because I don't know the answers. Before you head to your exams always make sure you drink plenty of water and you eat breakfast if it is a morning exam or lunch if it in the afternoon. This is honestly such an important factor as to why many people feel sick when they go into their exam, not only will it stop the sicky feeling but also, food makes the brain work! Next I would say, don't stress yourself out by revising the night before an exam. This is one that has been pas...

Ready Steady Glow!

Image
Helloooo again you lovely bunch, It's been one of those weeks where life is just crap. Someone dear to me passed away on Friday and it's been a struggle. However, yesterday I got all my glow gear on and celebrated with my godmother and mum for Dementia at Media City, what an amazing night.  First of all we started the night off with a cheeky trip to Nando's and on the tram two lovely people sponsored us for our walk. Of course I had my usual lemon and herb wrap with fries and garlic bread with some amazing perinaise sauce. We sat and glowed ourselves up in the middle of Nando's - cracking all the glow sticks and I'm not going to lie we got some really funny looks.  I wore a bright pink tutu and leg warmers with glitter all over my face, such a funny yet outgoing outfit, it was great.  We then made our way to the Piazza where we met up with lots of other inspirational walkers, we wrote a little note and attached it to the memory tree.  ...

2019: My Bucket List of Books - January:

Image
Hey you lovely lot, Sorry for the inconsistency on the blog recently. Due to me being at home, I've really relaxed and got on with work and not had time to write, which really is a crappy excuse.... I'm sorry. Anyhow, I'm introducing a new series on here for you guys. In 2018 I didn't read many books because I didn't have the time; I was at the end of my a levels and stress levels were high and then I started uni. So it was a blur. But gosh I loveeeee reading! So one of my ambitions for 2019 is to read more and set myself some goals when it comes to sitting down and reading a good book. Once a month I'll sit down and write a blog post on all the books I want to read and the ones I actually read I will give a lil review, so then if you have no idea what you want to read next... you can get some inspo from this. I hope you love the series and you can gain something from it... here goes! First of all... The books I want to read: 1...

New Years Resolutions:

Image
Hey you lovely lot! Merry Christmas and a happy new year! I hope you all had the best day on the 25th and got every present you wished for, and even eating all the goods... especially pigs in blankets. I'm currently sat here writing this in my new teddy bedding and throw eating all the chocolate I can consume because I need to eat it before I start my diet on January first, we shall see how long that lasts. I thought I'd make this post all about my new years resolutions, I have a few but not that many. I think every year I never keep to them and really I should. So this time I'm going to try to keep to them. First of all, eat healthy and go to the gym more ... At the start of uni, I joined the gym and went at least twice a week and then came a week off where I went home and I never got back into it and I feel like I've gained so much weight. So in effect when I go back to uni I'm going to eat a lot more healthy and exercise again. It...

Photoshop: How I edit my photos:

Image
Hey all, this post is a more photography inspired post. I love taking images. I take my shots on the Nikon D3400 and I'm obsessed with the quality of the images it produces. After taking a photography course at college, I fell in love with imagery. So for this post, I have decided to share my editing techniques that I use on Photoshop, nothing overly fancy. Just simple editing skills to help make your images look that little bit more contrasted and vibrant. First of all, a little context into this image - it was taken in New York. I love the vibrant colours in this image. Before I edited it the colours were not as bright and the contrast wasn't as developed. I first decided to use camera raw filter to increase the contrast and then I lowered the exposure a little. I then made the clarity of the image higher so the details were more exposed.  Here is a screenshot of the some of the editing:  This next image was taken in Puerto De La Cruz, in Tenerife. Th...
